An Amazing Week at St. Jacobi!

Did you stop in at St. Jacobi this last week? Did you notice the electricity flowing through the halls? There were so many things going on, we thought you might want to know a bit about them.

Last week started with SPIRIT! Students showed their school spirit by wearing themes throughout the week. Monday - Favorite Sports Team Day, Tuesday - Mismatch Day, Wednesday - Sunday Best Day, Thursday - Red and White Raider Day!

On Wednesday we held our Geography Bee semi-final competition. The kids who did well enough in the written test the previous week competed to be in the Top 10. These Students were 8th Grade - Michale K., Zack Z., Josh O., A.J. O., A.J. P., 7th Grade - Mitchel H., Joey R., Megan W., 6th Grade - Emma L., and 4th Grade - Simon L.

On Thursday our top 10 Geography Finalists competed for the opportunity to write the National Geography Bee test. Megan W. took first place with Joshua O. as runner up.

Also on Thursday was the Whitnall Spelling Bee. The St. Jacobi spelling competition was the previous week and the top students in each class advanced to the Whitnall Bee. These were 5th - Alexis W., 6th - Jack R., 7th - Mike R., and 8th Mike K. The 2nd place students were available as alternates. These were 5th - Jessica R., 6th - Jacob Z., 7th - Kaylee G. and 8th - Analysia R. Congrats to a job well done!

Our week finished off with a Rockin' Pep Rally! Our cheerleaders and basketball teams were recognized for their accomplishments and cheered on as they enter a weekend of tournaments and conference competition this coming weekend.

We are truly blessed here at St. Jacobi!

Church Offering Envelopes

Due to a change in the markings on our congregation's envelope boxes, it has become difficult to identify which envelopes are children's offerings and which are parent offerings. This is especially true on the festival envelopes. To help avoid confusion with the duplication of #'s and the recording of people's offerings, we are asking each student to bring in his or her offering envelope boxes to the classroom so we can mark them for better identification. We will return your boxes within the week after the envelopes are marked. Please turn in your boxes starting on Monday, January 23rd, 2012.

Thanks for your help with this project.

Parent Teacher Consultations and Report Cards

Report Cards will be coming home next week Monday. Please look them over and return the envelope signed. Along with the report cards will be a few forms.

Parent Teacher Conference form is for you to request a conference with your child's teacher or them to request a conference with you. Sign-ups for these conferences will also be out in the lobby on Monday next week.

Immunization Forms. Students going into 6th grade will need a booster shot. The Health Department form explaining this will be coming home in the Report Card.

Art Fair. General information for our May 5th Art Fair will be included in this report card.

Please look for this information in your child's backpack on Monday next week.

EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSING DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

It is possible that the closing or opening time of school may be changed, or school may be canceled altogether. Please listen to WTMJ (620 AM) on your radio dial for complete information.
